A.P. Indian wins Levine Memorial Handicap at Parx

02 Jul 2015

A.P. Indian, the five year old son of Indian Charlie out of Ender's Sister, scored his second consecutive stakes win in as many tries when he overcame a challenging trip to impressively win the Donald Levine memorial Handicap over seven furlongs.  Four horses vied for the lead in a quick first quarter of 22 4/5 and A.P. was forced to use his tactical speed to avoid getting pinched back leaving the quarter pole, but still had one rival (Stallwalkin' Dude) refuse to give him a breather.  These two were ding-donging through a fast half mile in 45 2/5.

Only with a furlong to go did A.P. shake off the Dude to draw away to win by over two lengths.  Both horses were spent after their earlier efforts, as despite six furlongs in 1:09 4/5, the final time was 1:23 2/5.

A.P. Indian will have plenty of time to bounce back for a start some time in early August against similar foes.
