Karelian
Karelian did his best racing at 7 and 8. He ran second, beaten a nose in the Shadwell Turf Mile (KEE-G1) in 2009 and then began the following year beating Gio Ponti (Eclipse Award winner) in Florida. In April, he won the Makers Mark Mile (KEE-G1) convincingly and then went to California, where he suffered a narrow defeat in the Shoemaker Mile (HOL-G1). He suffered an injury before a planned start at Saratoga, but through the efforts of his human helpers and his own good sense, he is fully recovered and happily spends his retirement at Golden Age Farm along with his half sibling, Colgan's Chip.
