Green Lantern Stables began racing thoroughbreds in 1995. Originally based in California, the stable now operates out of Lexington, Kentucky and races primarily in the midwest and on the east coast. Green Lantern Stables breeds a majority of its runners, although it also participates in the major auctions each year. In the past, the stable bred and campaigned Grade 1 winners Karelian and A.P. Indian as well as raced multiple graded stakes winner and millionaire Gotta Have Her. In partnership, we have raced Grade 1 winners Military, Irridescence (SAF) and Gypsy's Warning (SAF). The horses are trained by a variety of trainers on the East Coast and in Kentucky. Yearlings are introduced by Mickey Preger, Jr. at the Camden Training Facility in South Carolina.
Our operating philosophy is to allow the horses to be raised in as natural a state as possible. Weather permitting, young horses are given as much outside time as possible. We also rotate fields to maximize exposure to excellent pasture and provide plenty of room for unsupervised play and competition.
Our breeding decisions are based on trying to produce the best performer on the racetrack. We try to limit our use of unproven stallions and give careful consideration to matching physical characteristics of both mare and stallion.
We participate in major sales, but primarily breed to race and retain fillies to race and eventually join our broodmare band.
